Treatment & Recovery

The treatment for accident patients depends on the condition of the patient and the extent of injury. No time frame can be estimated for such cases as each case is going to be different.

If the patient has abdominal trauma to liver/ spleen/ kidney then there can be massive blood loss inside the abdominal cavity. Such patients may be in shock, by quick management a patient is resuscitated by fluid, blood is arranged and emergency operation is performed to prevent further blood loss, such surgeries may include repair of liver, removal of spleen, etc.

If the patient has suffered head injury and has gone into coma then the time for recovery increases considerably. If head injury results in collection of blood clots in the brain then craniotomy needs to be carried out to remove these clots.

If the patient has suffered multiple fractures then surgery for fixation needs to be carried out which would require hospitalization for 7-10 days. Most cases of accidents require prolonged physiotherapy and rehabilitation during the hospitalization and after discharge from the hospital.
